Bubble and Bounce

Words can not describe how stoked I am with this shoot. I have to admit 6 month old bubbas and 3 year old rascals are pretty much my favourite ages to photograph. Combine that with ample soft window light, colourful blankets and some silly sidekick puppets it would have been a hard one to muck up.

Mind you, to say that young Tobey was full of beans would be the understatement of the century, and I don't think his Mum was completely convinced that I am quicker than he is. I left her praying there would be at best one good shot resulting from what strongly ressembled utter chaos.

Just guessing, but I think she'll be somewhat over the moon when she sees this.

Elijah

You may remember Elijah's sister this time it was his turn to stand in the limelight. At the ripe old age of 20 months, it was time for Eli's portrait sitting to match the one Sammy had done when she was the same age. It was a bit of a challenge trying to achieve similar results to another photographer with a totally different style, and at the end of the day my own little bit of je ne sais quoi took over.

Although this may seem obvious, I'll say it anyway: believe it or not, every photographer is different. I really try to forge my own style not just in my photos, but in the way I conduct my shoots too. Its really important to choose a photographer who's photos you really love - and not just the cheapest or the most well-known. Photos never get thrown away, you will hold them dear forever, it is worth getting ones that you truely adore.

A weekend well spent

This past weekend I helped out at the Special Children's Christmas Party.

It is a huge annual event that gives kids who are having a rough time a chance to sink their teeth into some christmas cheer.
Around 1500 people attend each event. Every child goes home with a present (or three), a sugar high and a smile a mile wide.

It was an immensly fun and exhausting day, my arm was aching from holding my camera up, and my cheeks were aching from grinning too wide. I loved getting the chance to donate my skills to such a great cause, and I can't wait for next year!

a day at the beach

Thomas and William are friends with my little buddies Harry and Soph . We got together one gorgeous sunny morning (loving this summery stuff!) at Days Bay in Eastborne. We threw sand. We ate ice blocks. It was great.

Izzy on a Grumbly Day

Izzy's mum won a session by entering my contest on the KiwiParent stall at the All About Kids Expo. Unfortunately her nap schedule was a bit off on the day I visited and we didn't really hit it off (until she was allowed entry to the secret caverns of my camera bag that is!). Luckily Izzy might just be the most beautiful toddler in the city - I'm such a sucker for a curly noggin, so we managed to pull off a few gems - I especially love Izzy in black and white.

Sadly it all ended in tears.

Bula!

To end our wild tour of the United States and Canada (posts to follow) we took some time out in gorgeous Fiji.
It was hot. I now resemble a lobster. Thats why I'm not in the photos.
I should write more - there is plenty to say... but I'm still in holiday mode so I'll just let the photos do the talking.
